🔹 What is a Question Tag?
A question tag is a short question added at the end of a sentence. It is used to confirm information or seek agreement.
Basic Rule:
👉 If the sentence is positive, the tag is negative.
👉 If the sentence is negative, the tag is positive.
Example: She is happy, isn’t she? / He doesn’t play, does he?
Rules with Examples
1️⃣ With "be" verbs: She is tired, isn’t she?
⚠ Special case: I am late, aren’t I? (NOT amn't I)
2️⃣ With helping verbs: She has finished, hasn’t she? / He can swim, can’t he?
3️⃣ Simple Present / Past: Use do / does / did
- She plays well, doesn’t she?
- They went home, didn’t they?
Negative Words & Imperatives
4️⃣ With Negative Words: never, nobody, nothing, hardly, seldom, etc. → Tag will be positive.
Example: She never lies, does she? / Nobody came, did they?
5️⃣ With Imperative Sentences:
- Requests/Commands: Close the door, will you?
- Suggestions (Let’s): Let’s go, shall we?
